So why is Mitsubishi now offering this support service when you may think these benefits are already provided by insurers?

The fact is that most UK motor insurers focus on minimising the cost of repairing vehicles. This could make a big difference to your vehicle’s safety, residual value and driving pleasure.

Your insurer will try to direct you to one of their “approved” repairers. But, these repairers:

  • are unlikely to be Mitsubishi approved or have specific Mitsubishi technical knowledge
  • are often told by insurers to fit cheaper non-genuine Mitsubishi parts and panels which could affect your vehicle warranty
  • could repair parts when they should be replaced which could affect the value of your vehicle
  • might not have the appropriate equipment to repair your Mitsubishi
  • are less likely to repair your Mitsubishi to fully reinstate its Euro NCAP safety rating
  • could invalidate your manufacturer’s warranty

To guarantee your Mitsubishi remains 100% Mitsubishi after an accident

  • CALL MITSUBISHI FIRST 0844 209 2595
  • 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Save 0844 209 2595 as ‘Mitsubishi First’ in your mobile phone

IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE THEFT

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Click on the questions below to reveal answers

I need to report the claim to my insurer if you are dealing with my claim?

No. Once we receive a call from you we will notify your insurer of the accident and which Mitsubishi Accident Repair Centre your Mitsubishi is to be repaired at. If you don’t call Mitsubishi first, it means your insurer will dictate where you must take your vehicle to be repaired and it will be too late for you to exercise your legal right and have your Mitsubishi repaired at a Mitsubishi Accident Repair Centre of your choice.

What will Mitsubishi customers pay for this service?

This is a FREE service to all Mitsubishi customers – there’s no catch. We are simply managing the claim on your behalf. When an accident is not your fault we simply recover all costs from the other party’s insurer. Similarly, there is no extra cost if the accident was your fault. Your only cost is any uninsured costs such as policy excess.

What information will you require from me in order to manage the claim?

When you call us, you will not need to fill in a claims form as we will do this for you over the telephone. In the event that you are missing some details, we will investigate and make enquiries.

If I call Mitsubishi first will it increase my next insurance premium?

Definitely not if you were not at fault for the accident; the other party’s insurer pays for your claim. If the accident is your fault, any increase in your next premium should be no more than if the insurer’s bodyshop did the repair – as all repair costs must be approved by your insurer prior to proceeding.

How does Mitsubishi benefit from providing this service? This is a good service for customers but I can’t help being cynical.

Mitsubishi wants all Mitsubishi owners in the UK to receive the highest standards of bodyshop care. We aim to improve the Accident AfterCare experience for customers involved in a vehicle accident and protect the safety standards and residual value of customers’ vehicles. Mitsubishi genuine parts are developed to meet rigorous safety standards. The use of non-genuine parts on your Mitsubishi by your insurer’s bodyshop could compromise vehicle safety and that of your passengers. Mitsubishi also benefits as we will fit more genuine Mitsubishi parts. It also allows Mitsubishi to have more contact with customers at a time when they need support and peace of mind.

How will Mitsubishi and my insurer agree on the cost of the repair?

All costs must be approved by the insurer before a repair is carried out. The assigned Mitsubishi Accident Repair Centre submits an estimate of the repair cost to insurers for approval before repair work on your vehicle commences. Costs for completing bodyshop repairs are standardised.

I’m a Mitsubishi used vehicle owner – am I also entitled to use this service?

This service is available to all Mitsubishi drivers in the UK, regardless of the age of your vehicle or whether your vehicle is new or used, or has had a number of previous owners. It is also available to anyone who drives your Mitsubishi providing they are insured. This service can be passed on to new owners if and when you sell-on your Mitsubishi.

Can you help for all accidents, even a small dent?

For any accident, no matter how big or small, you should always Call Mitsubishi First. We will get your Mitsubishi repair completed with no hassle or inconvenience

If I use this service, isn’t it just another middleman that will reduce my control over the claim process?

No. This Mitsubishi programme gives you much greater control over your insurance claim, by allowing you to exercise your legal right to control where your vehicle is repaired and ensuring that you receive all the benefits as outlined in this leaflet.
